President Cyril Ramaphosa has spoken concerning the issue of cabinet reshuffling, urging the people to be patient. There has been pressure on Ramaphosa to reshuffle his cabinet following his re-election as party President at the ANC’s 55th conference at Nasrec in December. However, it appears that the president is not ready to do anything in a rush to avoid making any unnecessary mistake. The Position of the minister of Transportation is now vacant to be filled since the current Minister, Fikile Mbalula had been elected as the ANC Secretary-General. The Position of the ANC Secretary-General is a full time commitment. One can see that Fikile Mbalula is very much committed to this his new position. Furthermore, speaking at the conclusion of the conference, president Cyril Ramaphosa speaking to the media during a Golf day event in Bloemfontein on Friday, Ramaphosa said he will make an announcement in due course.“The question of cabinet reshuffle I think is the most prominent thing in your thoughts, but obliterate it and wait for the moment when the President would have applied his mind”.
The president said that a lot of people have been asking when he is going to reshuffle the cabinet. In fact, some people have started suggesting the names of those they want him to reshuffle, those they believe are not performing credibly well. However, president Cyril Ramaphosa do not want to be rash in his decisions, hence is calling for patience. He was quoted as saying, “Stop asking when that is going to happen. Just know that the President will apply his mind and will come to the nation and make an announcement. So relax, sit back, have a cup of coffee and watch the space.” President Cyril Ramaphosa is full of surprises, he may come from an aspect people are least expecting. But it appears cabinet reshuffling is inevitable as of now.
